CLARISSA HAYLETT

Clarissa is a highly accomplished occupational therapist with a distinguished academic background, including a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with cum laude honors from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Her professional journey began at Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital, where she gained valuable experience in physical rehabilitation, psychiatry, and paediatrics.
Building on her expertise, Clarissa pursued a postgraduate diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation, reflecting her dedication to continuous professional growth. As the owner and principal occupational therapist at her private practice in Pretoria, she specialised in functional capacity evaluations, physical, and cognitive rehabilitation.
Since relocating to Sydney, Australia, in 2021, Clarissa has immersed herself in the NDIS sector. She has developed a deep understanding of the industry, including conducting assessments, managing case files, and delivering targeted interventions to adult NDIS participants. She has a special interest in working with clients with neurological conditions and prescribing assistive technologies. Additionally, Clarissa is passionate about mentoring and supporting fellow therapists and students. Her commitment to evidence-based practice and enhancing the quality of life for her clients underscores her professional ethos.
In 2024, Clarissa launched her own venture, OT-Worx, with a vision to provide innovative and personalised occupational therapy services. OT-Worx represents her dedication to combining her wealth of experience with a forward-thinking approach to address the diverse needs of her clients and to drive excellence in occupational therapy practice.

Thorough assessment of clients and their environments while exploring suitable housing options.

ONGOING OT INTERVENTION/ SKILL BUILDING
Regular intervention sessions to build participants’ capacity and improve skills so that they can achieve their NDIS goals.

MANUAL HANDLING TRAINING
Training caregivers, Support Workers, family members and other health professionals regarding safe manual handling techniques when completing transfers, bed mobility and when using assistive technology (AT).

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY (AT) ASSESSMENTS
Assessment of clients to ensure appropriate selection and prescription of assistive technologies (AT). Including electric beds, manual wheelchairs, low-cost AT among others.
